What we do with what you tell us.
Short version: we use it to get back to you, both owners see it, and we do not sell it to anybody. The longer version is below, in plain English.
What we collect
Mostly, only what you type into a form. The contact form asks for your name, email, an optional phone number and your message. The showing request adds the address of the home you want to see. The home-value form asks for your property address, its condition, your timeframe and how to reach you. The home-alert form asks for the search you want watched and how to reach you.
One thing you do not type: when a form is submitted, our server briefly holds the network address it came from, purely to stop somebody flooding the site with automated submissions. It is kept in memory for ten minutes, it is never written down, and it is not linked to anything you sent.
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not build a profile of you across other websites. Saved homes are kept in your own browser on your own device. If you use the “Tour your shortlist” button, the addresses you saved travel to our contact form in the web address so they can be written into your message for you — that is the one moment your shortlist leaves your device, and nothing is stored until you actually send the message.
What we do with it
We use it to answer you. Everything submitted through this site is passed to the notification service that alerts Jesse Lancaster and Riley Wilkins, so a real person can reply — not a call centre, and not an automated sequence. If a form ever tells you it could not be sent, it means exactly that, and the phone number on the page is the way through.
While that hand-off is being set up, a submission is recorded in our website's server log so nothing is lost, and we retrieve it from there by hand. That log is held by our hosting provider and is not used for anything else.
We may contact you by email, phone or text about the request you sent. If you would rather we did not call or text, say so in your message or tell us on the first call and we will note it.
Who else sees it
The service that delivers the message to us, our website host, and nobody else. We do not share your information with other brokerages, lenders, or data brokers. If you ask us to introduce you to a lender or an inspector, we will ask you first and you can say no.
We will disclose information if the law requires it — a subpoena, a court order, or a regulatory request we are obliged to answer.
How long we keep it
Enquiries stay in our email and our records for as long as we are working together, and afterwards for as long as North Carolina real estate record-keeping rules require. You can ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep.
Server logs, including the copies described above, are kept by our host on their own schedule — a matter of days — and are not archived by us.
Your choices
Ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email jesse@wilkinsandlancaster.com or use the contact form and we will handle it — there is no special form to fill in.
Clearing your browser data removes your saved-homes shortlist — it lives only in this browser, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side unless you have sent it to us in a message.
Listings shown through IDX
Homes listed by other brokerages are displayed through an IDX feed and are credited to the brokerage that listed them. Browsing those listings sends nothing about you to that brokerage. Contacting us about one sends your message to us, and only to us.
